Should vs Want: The Group Programme

For when you’re tired of carrying it all on your own.

One of the most common things people say to me is: “I thought I was the only one who felt like this.”

The pressure. The overthinking. The constant questioning. It’s easy to assume everyone else has it figured out. They don’t.

What is the Should Vs Want Programme?

Should vs Want, in six weeks, in a small group

This is the framework I’m known for, run as a six-week guided group experience for mid-career professionals at a similar point.

They know something needs to change. They’ve been thinking about it for a while. And they’re ready to start moving forward — but they don’t want to do it alone.

Most of us spend most of our lives running on “should”:

  • Should take the promotion.

  • Should be grateful.

  • Should have figured this out by now.

  • Should stay because it’s a good job.

Want is quieter. It’s also where every meaningful decision actually lives.

This programme is six weeks of structured, guided practice in telling the two apart — and learning to back the want, with discipline and a plan.

Six Weeks, Six Moves

  • Week 1 — Where you actually are. Honest assessment. Not the LinkedIn version.

  • Week 2 — Your values, named and ranked. The ones you live by, not the ones on the company poster.

  • Week 3 — Spotting the shoulds. Who put them there. Why they’re loud. Which ones to keep.

  • Week 4 — Naming the want. Sometimes for the first time, out loud.

  • Week 5 — The first small move. Real, doable, this-week.

  • Week 6 — A plan you can take with you. Six months, twelve months, and what to do when it gets hard.

What Makes It Different

You’re not just learning from me

You’re hearing how other people think. Seeing your situation from a different angle. Realising you’re not as stuck as you thought. That shift alone changes everything.

Format

How it runs

  • Six weekly group sessions, 90 minutes each, live online — join from anywhere

  • A small cohort: eight to ten people, no more, selected to make sure the room works

  • A workbook you’ll actually use

  • A private group for the conversations between sessions

  • One 1:1 session with me, somewhere in the middle, when you need it most

Who Comes

Mid-career professionals asking the same questions

  • Mostly between 32 and 50

  • Many in tech, financial services, professional services, and scaling companies. Some at the top of their game, some at a crossroads

  • None of them know the others when they start

  • Most stay in touch when it ends

What people leave with

They don’t just gain clarity. They feel lighter, because they’re no longer carrying everything on their own, and they’re no longer stuck in the same mental loop.

“Lindsay’s group coaching sessions really stood out to me. I was nervous about coaching but Lindsay makes you feel at ease straight away. After the sessions, I had a much clearer view of what I wanted — and more importantly, what I didn’t want. I now have a new role in which I feel happier, positively challenged and excited.”

— Group programme participant

“I participated at a time when I was feeling quite stagnant. Lindsay’s guidance rebooted my mind and spirit — giving me time to reflect on my values and what’s most important to focus on. A great investment in my happiness and future.”

— Eileen, Dublin

“Lindsay’s approach is fun, creative and open-minded, and the group were a fantastic support to me. Get in touch if you want to dedicate some time to your own big life project.”
