What is coaching?
The role of a coach is to take you on a journey from A > B. It sounds easy...so why do you need a coach?
So many people are stuck/overwhelmed/scared/overly excited. A coach will help you figure out all your paths, identify which one is actually the most important in this moment and nudge you to take small steps in the direction you want to go.
I have posted different perspectives on what coaching is on my LinkedIn page, if you are interested in learning more.
What happens in a typical coaching session?
Each coaching session lasts 60 minutes. A typical coaching session is made up of 3 parts.
For the first 10% we "design our alliance", this means, we agree what we need to make this session productive e.g. Full confidentiality, phones away, a potential interruption for the client to grab a delivery etc.
The next 80% is the core of the coaching session. In this time, we start with the challenge the client brings and from there, we explore expansively using embodiment, trying out different perspectives, emotional processing. The coach will lead the client to where they feel they will get the biggest value, while always respecting a clients agenda and boundaries.
The final 10% is about accountability. The coach will set the client a challenge to take out of the session. The purpose of this is to bring your learnings into your life and share learnings (and failures) back in the next session to deepen your learnings.
What do people book coaching sessions for?
Clients come to coaching when they are ready for change, they feel stuck or they are navigating (or preparing to navigate) a big life event.
You can learn more about typical themes that people come to me to be coached on by navigating to the "1:1 Coaching" page.
If you are curious about how coaching could help you, I recommend booking in a 30 minute call to explore what is possible. There is no commitment - Just 30 minutes of your time.
How is coaching different to therapy?
They say that "Coaching gets you fit but, it won't fix a broken limb". Coaching and Therapy can work side by side towards your development.
Typically, therapy is backward looking, helping you to understand what makes the person today, and coaching looks from today forwards in the future.
